Discovery time

Liam brought some funny looking capsules today. We put them into hot water and look what happened to them!

Firewise

Room 8 have been learning how to be fire wise. We learnt about what to do with matches and lighters.    You need to give them to an adult. We also learnt how important smoke alarms are to have. If we smell smoke or hear our smoke alarm we need to yell "fire fire fire" then we need to get down, get low and get out. The safe place to meet is the letterbox and if we are at school we meet on the field.

Swimming time!

This week we have been going to huia pool for our swimming lessons. We go on a bus and it is lots of fun. We are learning to put our head under, float on our front and back and learn our freestyle arms.

Fireman Fred comes to visit

Room 8 have been learning about the letters from letterland. One of the letters we met was f - Fireman Fred. We were lucky because he came to visit us at school. He showed us his fireman gear. He also had big boots and a helmet. Tane and Julia got to dress up in his gear as well. It was very big on them. We enjoyed our visit from Fireman Fred.

DISCOVERY TIME!

Room 8 love discovery time. We get to lots of different activities. We are learning to use our words when we want to play with something when someone else has it. We are also learning to play with others. Room 8 are very good at using their manners and sharing.

Constable Julie

We have been learning where to walk up and down our school driveway safely. We need to walk inside the yellow line. We also have been learning about how to walk safely along the footpath. We need to be on the house side of the path. We need to be careful of sneaky driveways and make sure we stop, look up the driveway and check there are no cars coming. We were so good at walking safely.
